Via Core77 Design: Both materials are strong and allow light to travel through them, but what are the differences? Italy's product, called i.light and manufactured by Italcementi, has a "higher transparency performance than the optical fibres experimentally used in this field, but also cost much less allowing for their application on a large scale," says an Italcementi researcher. Meanwhile Germany's product, called Lucem [shown above] and manufactured by Robatex GmbH, is 100% recyclable, and is on display in 2cm-thick sheets. Link

Font Change Saves Money Design | (0)
Via Slashdot: A Wisconsin college has found a new way to cut costs with e-mail — by changing the font. The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has switched the default font on its e-mail system from Arial to Century Gothic. It says that while the change sounds minor, it will save money on ink when students print e-mails in the new font. Diane Blohowiak is the school's director of computing.
